Finalised Logo design for the event. Visually representing the @50 and the national animal of the Laos - the Elephant.

The imager is due to Laos being known as the Kingdom of the Million Elephants. It also symbolises UNICEF going forward as strong and resilient, determined for its goal.

The typography is intentional to also look like and imitate the Lao script.

I was at the helm in conceptualising and executing the vibrant branding and event language for "UNICEF Laos @ 50," an event commemorating five decades of impactful collaboration between the Government of Lao PDR and UNICEF. From logos and merchandise to social media banners, physical signages and publication covers, I curated a comprehensive design kit, ensuring a visually compelling and cohesive representation of the milestone.

A film photo I developed from my time there, with my team and the friends Tulu, Nat, Gözde, Pakham and Apple at our favourite coffee shop there.
During my months there, I learnt a lot from the people I worked with. Having an oppurtunity to work with people of all ages and from all places. Working with UNICEF was an eye-opening experience, and dealing with the social welfare systems and the government was a unique perspective on my regular style of design and working.

Working with various departments and people allowed my work to delve beyond surface level and help actually contribute towards a social good, things I strive towards through my work always.

MERCHANDISE DESIGNS FOR UNICEF @ 50

ILLUSTRATION

Taking forward the ideas, I made multiple iterations for illustrations. After all UNICEF departments reviewed it, the finalised illustration was a contained visually aesthetic Elephant in a triumph-like pose. In the background is the country’s proud national flower - the Champa. Using these shapes, the primary colours of UNICEF and varying these with the colours associated with the culture of Laos, I came up with Tote Bags and Tshirt designs for the event.

PUBLICATION + SOCIAL MEDIA DESIGNS @ 50

After weeks of research and working with the traditional styles and art of the country of Laos, I incorporated what I saw and learnt into the design language I developed for the event.

Bringing to a digital front the traditional weaving patterns and motifs from the various ethnic groups from the provinces of Laos, I incorporated these designs to all aspects of the branding. Presentations, publications, social media posts, signages and such.

I also led a transformative approach to a nationwide vaccination drive in collaboration with the government.

Innovatively redesigned billboards, infusing them with an engaging design language that resonated with diverse communities across Laos. I also witnessed their widespread placement and the positive reception it truly rewarding.

A few of these billboards can be seen here.
